Who was the pioneer of Turkish poetry?

Turkish poetry has a pioneer. Examples of these pioneering poets are Fuzuli, Nedim, Ali Şir Nevai, Yahya Kemal, Namık Kemal, Nazım Hikmet, Orhan Veli and Necip Fazıl. The history of Turkish poetry goes back thousands of years. However, the first known Turkish poet was Aprin Çor Tigin, who lived in the 8th century.

Information from Chinese sources reveals that Turks also had poems in BC. However, the Turks were a nomadic society. In other words, written literature was developed much later in Turks.

The first great poets of the Turks lived in the Uyghur Khaganate Period. Aprin Çor Tigin is one of these poets.

Pioneers of modern Turkish poetry

With the Tanzimat Period, the Turks began to take French poetry as an example. Namık Kemal and Tevfik Fikret are important names in this period.

In the post-Republican Turkish literature, Nazım Hikmet came to the fore with his socialist realist poems. Necip Fazıl, on the other hand, gained a wide readership with his nationalist-Turkist poems.

Orhan Veli Kanık is the person who destroyed the stereotypical order of Turkish poetry. He brought a new breath to poetry. Thanks to him, the form and content of the poem has expanded.

Recently, İsmet Özel is the leading name of Turkish poetry with the new opening he brought to metaphoric poetry.
