Who is Fuzuli?

Fuzuli, who is the biggest representative of the ashikane (beloved) ghazal in Turkish literature, is one of the Azerbaijani Turks. His life passed in the Iraqi Turkmen geography.

He wrote poems in Arabic and Persian as well as Turkish. Fuzuli is considered to be one of the most beautiful poets to express love in divan literature. In addition, the fact that he used a plain and understandable language compared to his period made it popular by the public and he had became a common value of the Turkish world.

Fuzuli is mostly known for his “Leylâ and Mecnun” mesnevi. In addition, “Su Kasidesi” and many poems belonging to the poet are among the masterpieces of Turkish literature.
